Hana Leonard features EnviroBuild decking and cladding in show garden
Award-winning garden designer Hana Leonard will feature EnviroBuild’s Hyperion decking and cladding in her design at the 2023 edition of the Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival. The prestigious event will take place from 4th-9th June on the grounds of the iconic Grade I listed royal palace once resided by King Henry VIII.
Hana Leonard is the founder and owner of Secrets of the Garden Ltd, a garden design studio enabling her to express her creativity to the utmost. A lover of plants and green spaces, Hana is passionate about making gardens flow and be beautiful without losing their usability. One way in which she keeps this in mind is with the use of recyclable and upcycled materials in her designs. EnviroBuild’s latest range of products certainly helps Hana achieve these goals.
Hana is excited to be working with EnviroBuild on her latest project. She said:
“I chose EnviroBuild because of their environmental credentials, high recycled content in their product and their commitment to sustainability. The fact that their decking and cladding comes in a variety of nice colours and finishes was just an added bonus that allowed me to create a more eye-catching design.”
The Hyperion Explorer Composite decking was chosen by Hana for its realistic wood look and wood-grain texture. However, the decking utilises the latest technologies and material innovations to go far beyond being pleasing to the eye. Manufactured almost entirely from recycled materials (~90%), Hyperion Explorer Composite Decking has a 64% reduced global warming potential in comparison to traditional timber decking. With a low-maintenance anti-slip surface, this decking solution is protected from stains and scratches, saving money and time in the long-run compared to wood products.
The Hyperion Pioneer Composite cladding boasts similar aesthetic and sustainable attributes as the decking. It is also made of more than 90% recycled materials, and produces a 69% lower carbon footprint compared to traditional timber cladding systems. Both EnviroBuild products used by Hana for her garden design benefit from a 10-year commercial limited warranty (15-year residential) for added peace of mind.
With numerous awards and accolades to its name, EnviroBuild is a building materials store you can trust to get the job done. Their products have had a huge positive impact on the environment; its Sisu Luxury Vinyl Dry-Back Tiles are the most sustainable LVT on the market, and was recently voted for “Product Innovation of the Year” at the 2022 London Construction Awards. In 2018, EnviroBuild was the recipient of two major awards: the Ethical and Green Business of the Year at the Federation of Small Business London Awards and Golden Apple Award for Environmental Best Practice within the Building & Construction, Innovation category at the International Green Apple Environment Awards. 2021 saw EnviroBuild win the Green Circular Economy Business of the Year at the West London Business Awards.
The spokesperson for EnviroBuild, Dr Aidan Bell, is excited to see EnviroBuild’s products at the Hampton Court Garden Festival in July. He added:
“It’s an honour for Hana Leonard to use our innovative decking and cladding solution in her latest garden design project. I’m looking forward to seeing how she has brought the garden to life with our help and hope that many of the visitors there will see the value of a more eco-friendly solution to their garden needs.”
Hana’s newest garden creation will be called “Plastic Fantastic” and will be built by Armstrong Landscapes Ltd. Inspired by the excessive use of plastic packaging in the horticultural industry, particularly non-recyclable plant pots and compost bags, the garden will heavily feature recycled plastics in a playful and beautiful way not seen before. The plants in use will reflect a green oasis on top of a restored landfill, with pioneer species including Birch trees and various meadow flowers that thrive on poor quality soils. The soft pastel colours of the meadow flowers, the white stems of the birch trees and the fresh green of their leaves will compliment the strong colours of the cladding and the decking. Hana will make use of all available colours of decking and cladding (silver birch, granite, walnut, stone and oak).
The Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival is run every year by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). This year’s edition will have a focus on flowers, but with a variety of activities and other exhibits to see. These include the “Get Started Gardens” to inspire new gardeners, kids activities and hundreds of trade stands for the shopper. Live music, talks and delicious food and drink will be available throughout the day as well.
